Older adults are the fastest growing age group in the community. As per the Age Friendly Cupertino Task Force’s Aug 2019 report, there are 7000 residents who are 65 and older representing 12% of Cupertino’s population; this is projected to reach 17.5% (i.e  over 10,000) by 2025. CLF has several on-going programs for children, youth, and their parents, under the broad categories of Education, Wellness, Arts & Entertainment, and Science series. With the anticipated growth in the older adult population, CLF is  introducing more programs, geared towards seniors, in the Education and Wellness series, as well as spearheading a new initiative called Senior Transitions series aimed at seniors and their caregivers.

CLF would partner with the Library and sponsor several programs and at the same time, enlist external sponsors and partners within the Cupertino community for other programs. We currently partner with the Cupertino Senior Center on our Film Series for seniors. With the Covid-19 pandemic and shelter-in-place, we have paused the Film Series until such time the Cupertino Senior Center is reopened. However, we have plans to organize several virtual wellness and educational events during 2020 and 2021. Specific topics include:

  1. Laughter Yoga under Wellness
  2. Scams, Fake News, On-line Safety, and other Cybersecurity matters
  3. Memory Care
  4. Senior Housing
  5. Caring of Loved Ones
